"In partnership with the community, Carpenter School's
mission is to provide opportunities that challenge all children to reach their potential in a safe and supportive environment."

Dear Parents,

It is with bittersweet feelings that I write this letter.  As you were notified last week, I was offered and have accepted a new position in the district.  I will finish out the school year here and begin my new assignment on
July 1st.  I would like to share my remarks to the Board of Education upon the approval of my appointment as the District 64 Director of Early Intervening Services and Response to Intervention…

“I am very excited to be a part of a new effort to provide all of our students the support they need as soon as they show us they need it as well as helping to develop a better format to identify those that might need the support of our special education programs.  I thank you for this wonderful opportunity…one that I felt I could not pass on.  I have always tried to keep the needs of our students the focus of whatever I do.  The underlying concept of Early Intervening Services/Response to Intervention plays right into this focus.

The decision to leave Carpenter School is a very difficult one.  This week has been very emotional for me.  I feel that our staff has done some truly great things to provide better learning experiences for both our students and the staff itself. We have learned to become critical friends and provide support to all students in a variety of ways to help them reach their potential.  During this past 9_ years, Carpenter became my home away from home, and the Carpenter community became my second family.

That being said, I have been at Carpenter longer than I have held any other responsibility except those of being a student, a daughter, a wife, and a mother.  I feel that this new position will allow me to continue to grow and contribute to the district in a different way.  My hope is to support others in the district, as I have supported those at Carpenter, as they incorporate some new instructional ideas to provide more successful and fulfilling learning experiences for all.

I would like to thank you for your support during my time as the principal of Carpenter, and I look forward to continuing to serve our community and working with you in this new capacity.”

I thank you all for this opportunity to share in your children's lives.  My experience here at “the little school with the big heart” will be something that I will cherish forever.  I will miss the daily contact with the students, but I feel that I can be a support in the effort to provide better services to all District 64 students.  It has been a truly wonderful experience!

Have a great day!
