Roosevelt students win Film Fest Grand Prize

Roosevelt School fifth graders Rebecca Gilbert, Carly Novack and Isabelle McKee took the Elementary Grand Prize in the 2018-19 GEG Chicagoland Film Festival.

Responding to the challenge of preparing a two-minute film on the theme, Make a Change, the trio were inspired to create their film -- "Stop Animal Abuse" -- that garnered the top award. The students, their parents and several teachers participated in the February 8 award ceremony at Google Chicago headquarters to screen the winning films in this grades K-12 competition. The students also were asked to share a short reflection of their film and their filmmaking experience from the stage, too!
