Franklin Veterans Day Whole School Salute to our Veterans

I am very happy to have school on Veterans day. It is a learning opportunity for students and adults to develop a better understanding of the sacrifices made by the men and women who served and are currently serving our country in the armed forces.

We maintained the tradition to have the Park Ridge Police Color Guard and a number of veterans come to Franklin to do a tribute to our Flag in a whole school pledge assembly. Students then participated in break out sessions by grade levels to hear presentations from veterans telling their story and sharing their individual experiences.

This year we moved it into the Gym due to weather, but the sentiments of respect and citizenship were resounding.

Together We Discover, Learn, Grow & Care

At D64, our mission is to foster opportunities for discovery, engagement, and growth for all students. We accomplish this by nurturing interdependence, appreciation of differences, and care for self and others.
