HALLOWEEN AT FRANKLIN:

Franklin students will have a HALLOWEEN PARADE (weather permitting) and parties on Mon. Oct. 31st.  The ALL SCHOOL parade will take place outside at 3:10 p.m.  Classroom parties will be held from 2:00-3:00.  Our parade route will have students exiting the building through the circle driveway doors, walking the perimeter of the school across the playground and back around to the front of the school to re-enter the building.  Parents and families are welcome to stand outside on the blacktop and watch the parade.  IF IT IS RAINING HEAVILY the parade will be cancelled.  The parties will still take place.  STRICT costume guidelines:  NO weapons with costumes and no masks or hoods covering faces.  Children will change into their costumes BEFORE the classroom parties.  Students do not wear costumes or face makeup to school (EXCEPT KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS).  AM kindergarten students come to school in costume and will parade at 9:00 am outside and then through the hallways inside school for the other students.  AM KDG students are welcome to come back to school to join the all school parade at 3:10.  PM KDG students wear their costumes to school.

During “Safety Week” last week the students and staff participated in a fire drill, a lock down, drill, a tornado drill, and a bus evacuation drill.  These drills offer our students and staff the opportunity to practice what to do in the event of an emergency.  We will still need to complete two more fire drills before the year is over. The next fire drills will be unannounced and a surprise to students as staff.

Please do not leave your cars UNATTENDED when parking on Manor Ln or Dee Rd at pickup and drop off times. The Park Ridge police will ticket unattended vehicles.

Parents of 4th and 5th grade boys...

Let Me Run is returning this fall and registration is open!

Let Me Run is a program designed to use running to empower boys and help them learn to express themselves, reach personal goals, and improve overall wellness. It combines running with fun activities and lessons that help learn teamwork, build relationships, create friendships, grow emotionally, amplify self-esteem, empower themselves and others, and live an active lifestyle. It is open to 4th and 5th grade boys and all ability levels. Check out the website letmerun.org for more information.

LMR will be coached by Vickie Nelson, Dave Cook, and Kristen Lay and will meet on Wednesday and Friday evenings from 5:15-6:30. Training will start October 5 and run through November 18. The program culminates with a 5k on Sunday, November 20 at 8:45 am in Lincolnwood.

The $100 fee (plus a processing fee) includes 14 LMR lessons, a dri-fit shirt, program supplies, insurance, and a race medal. The 5k is an additional $30 fee. Information regarding separate registration for the 5k will be sent after LMR registration. Scholarships are available through Let Me Run on a need basis.
