School Starts This Wed. Aug. 17th for grades 1-5

Dear Franklin Families:

I look forward to meeting all of you and your children with the start of school this week!  The first day of school for 1st - 5th graders will be WEDNESDAY, AUG. 17th.  The first bell rings at 8:45 a.m. and the tardy bell rings at 8:50 a.m.  Students enter the building at 8:45 a.m.  The district has an early release time of 2:40 p.m.  EVERY WEDNESDAY throughout the school year.  School will be dismissed at 2:40 p.m. this Wednesday.   Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday school is dismissed at 3:30 p.m.

Kindergarten students start school on FRIDAY, AUG. 19th.  All registered Kindergarten students should have received a letter inviting them to attend a brief kindergarten orientation on either Aug. 17 or Aug. 18th.  This is an opportunity for kindergarten students to meet their teacher, come see their new classroom (with their parents), meet a few other students, learn about the drop off/pick up routines, and to drop off school supplies.  These orientation sessions are very helpful at reducing anxiety prior to the first day of school for kindergarten students.

To help with the flow of student traffic entering or exiting the building, students enter/exit through specific doors at our school.  Children line up outside these door by room number.  Room numbers are painted on the blacktop in the back of the building.

  • K - east of main entrance on Manor (front of school)

  • 1 - south door by green playground

  • 2 - east door by red playground

  • 3 - east door by red playground

  • 4 - south door by green playground

  • 5 - southwest door by parking lot

Your child’s safety is always our first priority.  Please obey traffic rules when dropping off and picking up your child(ren) at school.

If you have not yet received a letter with your child’s classroom placement listed, please call our office at (847) 318-4390.

Enjoy the last few days of summer vacation!

Best,

Dr. Claire Kowalczyk
