Foreign Language Overview

Community Consolidated School District 64's Foreign Language Department services students in second through eighth grade at all five elementary schools and two middle schools.

The Foreign Language program is divided into two major components; Foreign Language at the Elementary School (FLES) and Middle School. In the FLES program, students begin their exposure to a foreign language at an early age to help  facilitate their language processing abilities and exposure to world cultures. In the middle school program, students begin with a further exploration of the language previously learned, and later have the option to continue with more intense study. The curricula are aligned to both the Illinois State and National Standards, thus providing students with the opportunity to receive quality education in both French and Spanish.
