Schools win grants to spur recycling

Four D64 schools have been awarded $200 grants this year from the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) to support waste prevention measures and the conservation of resources.

The funds will support a diversity of efforts:

  • Carpenter will purchase containers and hooks to collect special materials for resuse/recycling;
  • Roosevelt will purchase reusable water bottles for students;
  • Washington will purchase recycling bins and a dry erase board to organize the schedule;
  • and Lincoln will purchase two "bottle" containers to make recycling more accessible for all students.

Together We Discover, Learn, Grow & Care

At D64, our mission is to foster opportunities for discovery, engagement, and growth for all students. We accomplish this by nurturing interdependence, appreciation of differences, and care for self and others.
