Lincoln Middle School promotion relocated to Maine West High School due to extreme weather forecast

Important Message from Lincoln Middle School - Relocation of 8th Grade Promotion

Due to the extreme weather forecast for this Thursday, May 31, 2018, Lincoln Middle School’s promotion ceremony for 8th grade is being relocated from Maine South to the spectator gymnasium located at Maine West High School, 1755 S. Wolf Rd., Des Plaines, IL 60018.

The decision to relocate was not made lightly. However, the Maine West spectator gym is air conditioned and will easily accommodate all our students, staff, family members and guests in far greater comfort and safety for all ages in these forecasted weather conditions. For those of you who have had an older child attend promotion at Maine South, we know you will understand our concern at the impact such heat and humidity can have on this important milestone in your child’s education.

As a reminder, 8th grade students should arrive at Maine West no later than 6:30 p.m. and gather in the cafeteria to line-up. There is no change to the start time of the promotion ceremony, which will begin as originally planned at 7:00 p.m.

Attached is a map showing the location of the school, the spectator gym, and suggested parking. The spectator gym is easily accessible from several large, adjacent parking lots. We urge all families to allow additional time to navigate to what may be a lesser known venue for you.

We are grateful to Maine Township District 207 for working on short notice to offer this wonderful space for our use.

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday!

Dr. Tony Murray, Principal
Mr. Tim Gleason, Assistant Principal
