District 64 Board to appoint former member to fill vacant seat

The Park Ridge-Niles School District 64 Board of Education is expected to appoint former Board member Terry Cameron of Park Ridge to a vacant seat on the Board during a public meeting on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Jefferson School (multipurpose room), 8200 N. Greendale Avenue, Niles.

Mr. Cameron will serve until a new Board is seated on May 1, 2017 following the upcoming municipal elections in April. Selected from a group of eight candidates interviewed during an open meeting on February 13, 2017, Mr. Cameron replaces Dathan Paterno who resigned on January 23, 2017.

Mr. Cameron previously was elected to the Board of Education in April 2013, and completed required Board member trainings on the Open Meetings Act, as well as Professional Development Leadership Training and Performance Evaluation Reform Act (PERA) training for school board members.
He served until resigning in summer 2014 due to a job relocation out of state. Subsequently returning to Park Ridge, his children now attend Lincoln Middle School. Mr. Cameron is president, advisory services at Sound Physicians, Inc.

“We look forward to welcoming Terry back to the Board to fill in during the unique circumstances of this short, interim term,” Board President Anthony Borrelli stated. “We believe that his knowledge of District 64 and his familiarity with Board work will allow him to quickly get up to speed and serve effectively over the next 10 weeks,” he noted.

“We thank the many highly qualified community members who also stepped up immediately to be of service to our schools, and we encourage them to consider seeking election to the Board in the future,” Board President Borrelli added.
