TLC clubs 2011-2012 

NEWSPAPER CLUB
Come one, come all to join Emerson’s Newspaper Club.  We plan to report on the numerous school functions and activities here at Emerson School and our community.  Cartoons, advice column, current news, etc…there is plenty of room for fun and creativity in this club. We plan to meet in Mrs. Russell’s room, 111, on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month.

E (Emerson) Readers Book Club
Read a good book with friends!  Share your favorites!  We will meet the third Thursday of every month from 3:00-4:00. 
There will be guest visitors each month. See Mrs. Olson in the LRC for more information.

Emerson Artists Association (EAA)
Look for more artistic opportunities at Emerson?  If you like the idea of beautifying some of Emerson's walls or another creative project, then this is the club for you.   EAA meets on the first two Fridays of the month starting in October through March in Room 318 with Mrs. Davies.


6th grade Glee
All are welcome!  Meets every Friday from 3:00-4:00. See Mrs. Broeker in Room 160 with any questions.


7th/8th Boys Chorus
Meets on Thursday from 3:00-4:00.  The group performs in the community and presents concerts in December and April.  See Mr. Kennedy in Room 161 for more information.

7th/8th Grade Girls Chorus
Meets on Monday from 3:00-4:00.  The group performs in the community and presents concerts in December and April.  See Mr. Kennedy in Room 161 for more information.


Guitar Club
Guitar Club meets every Monday from 3-4 in Room 160.  Now’s your chance to play an electric guitar or drum set.  No experience necessary!

Model Building Club
Learn skills as you build a car, boat, or airplane model.  Students will read instructions, cut pieces, and assemble the model for final painting.

Movie Club
Do you like to watch movies, eat popcorn, and be with nice people? Then come to Movie Club.  We meet from 3:00-4:00 on 2 consecutive days
to watch each movie.  Look for posters in the hall announcing the next movie and dates or sign up with Mrs. Heffner in Room 214 to receive notes about upcoming movies.

Duct Tape Club
Come and learn the many different ways duct tape can be used to decorate or create folders, pens, clothes, notebooks, phones, iPods, and MORE.  Duct tape club will meet alternate on Thursdays.

Tumbling Club
Cartwheels, handstands, flip-flops...do you like to spend more time on your hands than your feet? If so, come join the tumbling club! We will meet the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month. Come join! Please see Miss Homann in room 101 if you have questions.

Simpsons Club
Do you enjoy the comedy of the Simpsons? Then join the Simpsons Club. We will discuss the show, play games, draw characters, and do other fun things about the Simpsons! For more information see Mrs. Gomez in room 320.


Remote Control Car Club
Meets Tuesdays after school in Room 117 from 3:00-4:00.  Students need to bring their own cars and drop them off in room 117 in the morning. 
 We race different courses on the blacktop where we go out for lunch.  See Mr. Liddell for any questions.


Video Game Club
Come play games! We have Wii, Game Cube, and PS2.  You can bring your own video games or play ours.  You also are able to use our computers.

Best Buddies
Best Buddies is a national organization that helps to foster friendships between typical students and students with disabilities.  
There is an application that needs to be complete and student are required to attend an after school activity two times each month and make contact 
with their buddy once each week. Best Buddies meets on alternate Tuesdays and Thursday in Room 217.
