Extended Day Kindergarten 2012/2013 - General Information

STARTING DATE:  Tuesday, August 21, 2012

AGES: Students entering kindergarten

STAFF: A certified teacher/team leader and teacher assistants supervise the After School Program for children in Kindergarten through Grade 6. The ratio of staff to participants is approxi­mately one to ten.

ACTIVITIES: Kindergarten students’ daily schedule includes circle time and sharing, outdoor play, story time, theme-based activities, snack and lunch.  The Extended Day Kindergarten program includes activities that supplement the District’s kindergarten curriculum.

TRANSPORTATION: Children enrolled in the After School Program are bussed to and/or from Jefferson School and their home schools.  

LUNCH AND SNACKS:  Kindergarten children must bring their own lunch and drink. The lunch period is supervised by Jefferson staff.  Snacks are provided each day for children enrolled in the morning and the afternoon program.   

HOURS: The Extended Day Kindergarten morning program runs from 9:00 AM until 12:10 PM (11:40 AM on Wednesday); a before school program is available from 7:00 – 9:00.   The Extended Day Kindergarten afternoon program runs from 11:40 until 3:30 (12:15 – 2:40 on Wednesday).

OPTIONS: Students can register for a two-day per week option or a five-day per week option.  Students wishing to attend three or four days per week would need to register and pay for the five-day per week option. 

**FEES: $40.00/2 days per week; $90.00/5 days per week. After 6:00 PM a late fee of $20.00 will be charged for students picked up more than 10 minutes late. All billing will be done in advance.  Bills will be prepared by the 15th of each month for services to be provided in the following month. Bills will be sent by email to the email address provided by parents at the time of registra­tion. Failure to make timely payments will result in dismissal from the program.

STAFF: A certified teacher/team leader and teacher assistants supervise the After School Program for children in Kindergarten through Grade 6. The ratio of staff to participants is approxi­mately one to ten.

ACTIVITIES: Arts, Crafts, Outdoor Activities, Homework Room, Free Play, Games and Sports in the Gym, Bingo, Table Top Activities, including puzzles and board games, Building/Construction toys, such as Legos, Knex, etc.

TRANSPORTATION: Children enrolled in the After School Program are bussed to Jefferson School from their home schools at the end of the school day. 

FOOD: A snack is provided every afternoon. 

HOURS: From the end of the school day until 6:00 PM.

OPTIONS: Students can register for a two-day per week option or a five-day per week option.  Students wishing to attend three or four days per week would need to register and pay for the five-day per week option.
