D64 Parent University: Marilee Feldman - The New Abnormal: Top 10 Strategies for Supporting the Family during Covid-19 (without going crazy)" (virtual)
A workshop designed for parents of school-aged children will focus on the impact COVID-19 pandemic has had on children and teens.
The presentation, "The New Abnormal: Top 10 Strategies for Supporting the Family during Covid-19 (without going crazy)" will be offered on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. It will be given by by Marilee Feldman, founder and clinical director of Life Counseling Institute. A link to the virtual presentation will be made available soon to the District 64 community.
"Covid-19 has brought forth unique challenges for everyone but has perhaps most greatly impacted children and teens, who face an enormous amount of change, ambiguous losses, and massive uncertainty," Feldman said.
The informative and entertaining program is designed to give parents simple strategies to be emotionally supportive, improve their relationship with their children, recognize signs of more serious concerns and learn the importance of attending to their own self care.
Feldman has a master's degree in counseling, is an Illinois licensed school counselor, and a certified addictions counselor. In her 20-plus years in the field of mental health, she has worked in addictions treatment centers, the public school setting, and in private practice. She is widely regarded for her expertise in the treatment of anxiety disorders, especially OCD, and runs a case consultation group for professionals who treat this disorder at Rogers Behavioral Health in Hinsdale.
