Senior Tax Exchange Program
Superintendent Laurie Heinz (standing, third from R) welcomes some of the District's senior program participants at the "back-to-school" orientation meeting for 2018-19. Assistant Superintendent Lori Lopez (first row/left) offered an update on learning and our curriculum focus for the year ahead.
The Senior Tax Exchange Program allows retired residents age 55 and over who live within District 64 boundaries to share their expertise with students and staff. As an incentive to involve seniors in the educational program, District 64 reimburses them for their time (currently $8.25 per hour). The partnership enhances the District's educational program by bringing seniors and students together to share their knowledge and experiences, and also provides senior citizens income they can apply to their property taxes.
