May 26, 2020 Board Highlights

The District 64 Board of Education held its its monthly virtual public meeting Monday, May 18 to discuss regular business. Highlights include:

  • Board purchases new student technology - The School Board agreed to a one-time purchase of student computers to expand the 1:1 Digital Learning Program into 2nd grade. The total expenditure of $211,750 will include Chromebooks, cases, charging carts, and management licensing. It is the second technology purchase in May. A week earlier the Board agreed to purchase Apple iPads for first-graders. The goal is to have all students with ready access to their own devices in the event of any learning situation that may present itself. Part of the cost is being covered by the estimated $171,000 being allocated to District 64 from the federal government’s Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
