3D Printing Starts at Carpenter Thanks to an ELF Grant

Carpenter 5th grade students got the first opportunity to try Carpenter's new 3D printer, which was purchased through a generous ELF grant at the end of last year. Mrs. Bianchi partnered with Mr. Michael for our students' first ever project involving 3D printing.  Students first used a software called 123Design to create 3D models of their first or last initial.  They then had to save their models, import them into their Google drive, share them with their teachers, and then the models were eventually printed in 3D using the MakerBot. It was a wonderful integration where students had to use their artistic skills and knowledge coupled with multiple skills in technology to create their first 3D art.  Click on this link for a couple more pictures and a video of the printer in action. Supporting ELF and PTO help to make creative ideas come alive, so thank you!
