Welcome to Carpenter Elementary School!

Carpenter Paw LogoPark Ridge-Niles District 64 and Carpenter's motto is "Together we discover, learn, grow and care."

George B. Carpenter Elementary School is one of the five elementary schools in District 64. Carpenter students eventually attend Emerson Middle School (District 64) and Maine South High School (District 207). Carpenter generally has approximately 450 students averaging three or four homerooms per grade level. We offer many additional supports to our students including special education and related services, literacy, accelerated programming, second language learning support, and clubs and activities.  We have a very active parent community and Parent/Teacher Organization. At Carpenter, we focus on Civil Behavior and 21st Century Learning. Our PAWS program emphasizes the values we wish to instill in our students.  We have an excellent staff who put the needs of our students first.  Our school goal is simple: student learning. As a staff, we recognize that there are many variables that have an impact on student learning. Annually, we highlight specific areas including, but not limited to: instruction, assessment, technology integration, service integration, communication, fostering relationships and social-emotional learning for continuous improvement.

Meet Your Principal

As a principal, 2022-2023 will be my 11th year at Carpenter Elementary School.  I earned my undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois, a Masters in Social Work at University of Illinois, Chicago, and I completed my administrative coursework at Depaul University.  I worked as a middle school social worker for six years and as an assistant principal for six years in an elementary school in District 26 in Mount Prospect prior to coming to District 64.  I enjoy spending time with my family, participating in school events, coaching, and volunteering with the am Kiwanis group here in Park Ridge. I am a huge Bears, Blackhawks, and Cubs fan.  In my spare time, I also enjoy reading, utilizing technology, playing all different types of sports, and playing the keyboard and singing.

Carpenter is my second home and I enjoy making it your child's second home as well.  I believe in making every moment a teachable moment in school. I believe in educating children to become independent and life-long learners.  I believe that children will make mistakes and that they need to learn from them.  I believe that success is earned and our children can achieve whatever they believe they can with the right support and guidance.  We have high expectations for our students and we will help them meet their goals.

Sincerely,

Mr. Brett Balduf

Carpenter Principal
