Dr. Heinz Visits Room 78 As A Surprise Guest Reader

Dr. Heinz Stops By!

By: Emily Lech, assistant principal

Today Dr. Heinz stopped by for her bi-monthly visit to Franklin! In Ms. Kennedy’s third grade, students were converting to improper fractions using manipulatives. She was also impressed with the state reports hanging in the fourth grade hallway. It was clear students dived deeply into their understandings of states and regions.

In the primary wing, Ms. Fulara was teaching a lesson to her first graders on endangered eagles. Currently, they’re making real life observations through live feed of a Decorah, Iowa’s eagle nest cam. Technology enables this wonderful real life experience from afar. http://sportsmansparadiseonline.com/Decorah_Bald_Eagle_Nest.html

Then Dr. Heinz surprised second graders as the weekly guest reader. The children were full of laughter and smiles as she read: The Book with No Pictures, by B.J. Novak.

We love the opportunity to show Dr. Heinz what’s new and interesting here at Franklin School!

The children and teachers also enjoy the chance to connect with our superintendent.
