PAWS Model

PAWS Model

Hello Families!

It’s hard to believe we are well underway and it’s not yet October! Our students are off to a great start. One big part of what we do at Carpenter is through our PAWS model. This stands for: Am I prepared? Am I responsible? Was I respectful? Am I being safe? Through our social emotional learning program called Second Step Link we teach our students important skills to build friendships, self-confidence, and reflection into our everyday actions. When teachers notice a student showing “PAWS” behavior, often a student is given a paper PAW with their name to hang on the poster inside the classroom or gym. Every week we pick a dozen PAWS that stood out and announce these names over our intercom during morning announcements. You’ll see on the certificate, that the reason he/she earned the certificate is written at the bottom. Encourage and celebrate your child for the little PAWS and certificates he/she may earn this year!!

The daily citizenship, friendship, and individuality that is exemplified at Carpenter School each day makes us very proud!

Warmly,

Mrs. Lech, assistant principal
