1:1 Digital Learning Program
The purpose of the 1:1 Digital Learning Program Handbook is to outline the policies, procedures, and expectations for district-issued devices in Park Ridge-Niles School District 64. It guides students, parents, and educators in maintaining a safe, reliable digital learning environment at school and at home.

- iPads are provided for Grades K–1 (stored at school).
- Chromebooks are provided for Grades 2-8.
- Grades 3–8 are responsible for bringing their charged devices to and from school daily.
A District-owned technology device (i.e. Chromebook or iPad) will be provided for your student as part of the 1:1 Digital Learning Program, or as an assistive technology device.
Before the device can be issued to the student, families and students must:
- Review and agree to the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) through the student registration process.
- Review and agree to the Technology Care Agreement through the student registration process.
- Pay the Chromebook Maintenance Fee, collected among the other school fees through the student registration process.
Once these three conditions are met, the student will be assigned a District-owned device and charger, as well as be provided a protective carrying case/cover. The student is expected to keep the device in its issued protective carrying case/cover at all times.
Technology will be distributed to the student through their classroom teacher.
- Students are expected to keep the device in its issued protective carrying case/cover at all times.
- Only use a clean, soft microfiber cloth to clean the screen or around the device; no liquid cleansers of any type.
- Keep all liquids or food away from the device.
- Devices must never be left in an unlocked locker, unlocked car, or any unsupervised area.
- The Chromebook must remain free of any writing, drawing, stickers, or labels that are not the property of Park Ridge-Niles District 64.
- Internet activity is filtered on and off campus.
- Parents can track browsing history, set screen-time limits, and pause home internet using the Lightspeed Parent Portal.
- The Lightspeed Parent Portal provides families with comprehensive oversight and management of their child's online behavior on school-issued devices.
All student data and approved digital tools comply with Illinois SOPPA, COPPA, and FERPA privacy standards.
