Concert Orchestra 1 & Maine South Rehearsal

Concert Orchestra 1 & Maine South Rehearsal

On Tuesday December 5, the Maine South Chamber Orchestra joined the Emerson Concert Orchestra 1 in their before school rehearsal. Emerson students were treated to a performance by the Maine South Chamber Orchestra. They performed Waltz from Sleeping Beauty, Radioactive and Jingle Bell Hoedown.

Following their performance, Emerson students were split into 9 groups for a breakout session. This was a terrific opportunity for the middle school students to ask high school students questions about the Maine South orchestra program, and hear about the many ways to continue their musical abilities after leaving Emerson.

At the conclusion of the rehearsal, students participated in a side-by-side rehearsal led by Maine South High School orchestra director, Mr. Matthew Nix. Students rehearsed pieces together that will be performed on the February 13 Progress Concert at Emerson. It was a wonderful morning. We look forward to having the high school students come back to lead sectionals after we return from winter break.
