Maine South + EMS Philharmonic Orchestra visit

Orchestra students playing

On Thursday, December 6, the Maine South Chamber Orchestra joined the Emerson Philharmonic Orchestra in their before school rehearsal. Emerson students were treated to a performance by the Maine South Chamber Orchestra led by their director, Mr. Matthew Nix. They performed a variety of holiday tunes including themes from The Nutcracker and Jingle Bell Hoedown.

Following their performance, Emerson students were split into 8 groups for a breakout session. This was a terrific opportunity for the middle school students to ask high school students questions about the Maine South orchestra program, and hear about the many ways to continue their musical abilities after leaving Emerson. Middle school students were excited to ask their prepared questions, and left rehearsal excited about the high school program.

We look forward to having the high school students come back to lead sectionals after we return from winter break.
