Fieldtrip to the Microsoft Envisioning Center

Students watching a presentation

On Thursday, Dec. 6th, the Flamingo Core went to the Microsoft Envisioning Center in the Aon Building in Chicago.   Microsoft spent an hour speaking with the kids about what's new at Microsoft, jobs that are in demand for the future, as well as the idea of technology driving the creation of jobs that may interest them in the future. Secondly, they spent an hour doing the "hour of code" with the Microsoft people. Students were paired and given the task of choosing a "project" to code to achieve various levels of success, depending on how the pair worked together and persevered.  Finally, a representative from Aon spoke with the students about internet safety as well as the use of technology in the workplace.  It was a great day and the kids really enjoyed the experience.
