ELF selects four Ethical Award winners for 2019

ELF selects four Ethical Award winners for 2019

For more than two decades, eighth grade students have vied for the prestigious honor of being named winners of the Judith L. Snow Ethical Leadership Award, presented annually by the District 64 Elementary Learning Foundation (ELF). Named after a 25-year resident of Park Ridge and dedicated member of the League of Women Voters, the coveted award shines the spotlight on one or more eighth grade students who are respected for leading by example.

ELF Trustee Chandra Kearney, Judith Snow Award Committee Co-Chair for 2019, officially presented the winners to the Board of Education and Superintendent Laurie Heinz at the June 20, 2019 regular meeting. They include: Emerson Middle School — Claudia Domusiewicz and Jenna Pravecek, and Lincoln Middle School  - Noah Collins and Colleen Compton.

Mrs. Kearney reported that the four students selected for the 2019 awards are "dutiful, honorable and full of integrity."  She noted that: "Their application essays displayed many acts of ethical leadership, and their recommendations from teachers, coaches and other adults prove that they are committed to making the world a better place for others."

The names of the 2019 Snow Award winners were revealed to students and families at the June 4 eighth grade promotion ceremonies for Lincoln and Emerson. Each student received a $250 gift from ELF, and will have their names engraved on the Judith Snow Award plaque continuously displayed at both of the middle schools.
