"Be Kind To Your Mind" - Emerson celebrates 2023 Red Ribbon Week

Emerson Middle School students and staff celebrated Red Ribbon Week at the end of October. The national theme this year is “Be kind to your mind! Live drug-free”. So, every theme day had the student’s “mind” in mind!

It was a festive and fun-filled week of drug awareness activities sponsored by the Emerson PTO and the Red Ribbon Committee. Below are some of the themed dress-up days!

  • Wear red
  • “Music is the medicine of the mind” - wear your favorite band’s shirt
  • “Rest your mind with SOARing dreams” - Wear PJs
  • “Learning never exhausts the mind! Knowledge is power.” - Dress up - Dress Smart (business attire)
  • “Empty your minds and embrace a drug-free life” - wear all white or all black

During the week, students who participated in the dress-up days were put into a raffle to win gift cards to local stores. Emerson SRO Officer Kevin Regal awarded the prizes on one of the days and talked with students about Red Ribbon Week and making healthy lifestyle choices.
