Excessive heat precautions for Worlds of Wonder July 18 and 19

Message from the Worlds of Wonder Principals - July 17, 2019

As you know, the Chicagoland area is anticipating excessive heat over the next two days. This is to confirm that our Worlds of Wonder locations at Roosevelt School and Emerson Middle School are air conditioned buildings. As we focus on keeping students comfortable and safe while attending WOW, however, we will be taking the following further steps on both July 18 and 19.

Plan for Arrival: Students will be allowed to enter the building at 8:20 a.m. for the first session and 10:00 a.m. for the second session at Roosevelt, and at 8:40 a.m. for the first session and 10:20 a.m. for the second session at Emerson.

Plan for Recess: Students will remain inside for recess.

Plan for Classes: PE classes will be held indoors.

Experts also recommend that students wear light clothing and carry a water bottle for extra hydration during these periods of high humidity combined with high temperatures.

We look forward to a great finish to the Worlds of Wonder Session II on Friday!

Mrs. Amanda Spychalski, WOW Principal - Roosevelt
Mr. Tim Benka and Mr. Tim Gleason, WOW Principals - Emerson
