OPESD 97

Update
The Board of Education has prepared Applicant Qualifications & Instructions for Interim Appointment for those community members who may be interested in applying.

Important Message from the District 64 Board of Education

To the District 64 Community:

We are writing to inform you of the resignation of Board of Education member Eastman Tiu, which was received and effective on November 15.

The Board will immediately begin the process of filling this vacancy according to Board Policy 2:70. Mr. Tiu was elected to the Board in April 2017. Because of the timing of his resignation, election officials will be adding an opportunity for a candidate to run for the unexpired, two-year portion of his term in the April 2, 2019 election. The District 64 Board will select an interim replacement for Mr. Tiu to serve from the time of appointment until the seating of new Board members following the April 2, 2019 election.

The appointment of this interim replacement will be made within 45 days. A timeline to make this appointment is being developed and will be announced publicly in the near future.

Dr. Anthony Borrelli, President, Board of Education
Dr. Laurie Heinz, Superintendent
