Deadline extended to register for Science Olympiad 2017

The deadline to register for the 31st annual District 64 Science Olympiad has been extended through Tuesday, November 15, 2016.

The Olympiad will be held at Emerson Middle School on Saturday, February 4, 2017.  For the first time, registration is being conducted conveniently online for students in grades 3-5 and for coaches.

Also new this year are a series of short videos that introduce the extracurricular Science Olympiad program, and spotlight each of the five science and engineering challenge events available: aerodynamics, egg drop, rubber band catapult, structures, and mystery box.

To view the videos or register your student for one of the events, please visit the Science Olympiad webpage.

At the Olympiad, students work in teams and represent their home elementary schools. Each event is co-sponsored by one of the elementary school PTO/As. Students who finish their event in first, second, or third place receive gold, silver, or bronze medals.

Almost 300 students typically participate each year, with about 200 parents/guardians assisting as coordinators, coaches and judges.
