Some of Washington's 4th and 5th grade students had a wonderful opportunity to meet a Holocaust survivor, Ela Weissberger, who was in Park Ridge promoting the Petite Opera's performance of Brundibar. She performed in the orginal play as a child in a concentration camp in Czechoslovakia ( when it was). It was a great opportunity for the students to hear from a primary source after reading the novel, Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. This was a great experience for the students!
