Washington Elementary benefits from 'great surprise'

Washington Elementary School was the benefactor of an incredibly generous gift recently as they were awarded a $1000 Amazon gift card. It was given as part of Park Ridge based TCC's 10 Days of Giving and what Washington Principal Angela Brito called a "great surprise".

"I had to call the District Human Resources Department to let they know what happened so I didn't get in any trouble" said Assistant Principal Janet Van Arsdale, "It was that unexpected."

Anticipated or not, the gift card is being put to great use as it will go to help fund Washington's PAWS Program which incentivises positive behavior. The program works as students are rewarded for that good behavior with entries to a school-wide raffle where winners are randomly selected to come to the office to select a prize. The gift card will be used to fund those prizes.

"We're really excited to receive the generous gift and are most excited that 100% of it will be used on the students and our PAWS program" added Brito.
