At the direction of the Board of Education in an effort to increase transparency, a running log was created effective October 1, 2018 to record all requests received and their disposition. In addition, a copy of each FOIA request will continue to be provided publicly in the materials for the next regular Board of Education meeting.
The processing time is for D64 staff only, and does not include time of the District's legal counsel, if needed.

Summary of Information Requested: On January 23, 2023, I submitted a FOIA request seeking any and all records related to the resignation of Dr. Eric Olson as Superintendent of District 64. On January 27, 2023, I amended my request. After taking an extension, as permitted by law, District 64 provided me with a final response on February 10, 2023. In accordance with the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140), I am requesting the processing notes for the above referenced FOIA request. The term “processing notes” means: Remarks, comments, notes, explanations, etc., made by your personnel or contractors about the processing of the above referenced FOIA request, the invocation of exemptions, and related matters. This is to include any analysts’ notes made during the processing of the requests, any standard worksheets completed by the analysts, any justifications for exemption invocations or other supporting documentation provided, and any correspondence referencing the requests, including tasking orders, emails, memos, and coordinating documentation. This is also to include any communications with Dr. Eric Olson, Dr. Joel Martin, Chris Lilly, and/or the Members of the Board of Education about the processing of my FOIA request. I am preparing a series of reports on the scope and breadth of unclaimed money due to Chicago-area individuals, governmental bodies, and others.
This is a three-part request. If these documents are controlled by a separate office or governmental entity, it’s likely I’ve sent a similar FOIA request to them as well. Conversely, if your office handles this material for other offices or departments, be aware that I’ve probably sent a FOIA request to them as well. I’m hoping that, wherever possible, such FOIAs can be combined, to avoid multiple offices having to respond with the same paperwork and data.
First, I am requesting all documents, data, and/or spreadsheets sufficient to show all unclaimed funds under the control of Park Ridge-Niles Community Consolidated School District 64 which have NOT been reported or transferred to the Illinois State Treasurer for inclusion in the state’s Unclaimed Property fund and database. This would include unclaimed money and property that is not yet old enough to be transferred to the Treasurer, including unclaimed refunds of any type; uncashed and/or “stale” checks or warrants; refunds or reimbursements for taxes, tuition, housing, incidentals, insurance payments, expenses, or any other type of refund or reimbursement; and all other unclaimed property and money which is currently under the control of your agency. For all documents, data or spreadsheets that contain information on these unclaimed funds, I am requesting all fields of data, including the specific amount of each unclaimed fund; the name and the address of each person or entity to which each fund is due; a description of what each piece of unclaimed property or money is; any control number or property number attached to each property; and any applicable dates connected with each piece of unclaimed property.
Second, I am requesting documents, data, and/or spreadsheets showing all unclaimed property which your office HAS reported and/or transferred to the Illinois State Treasurer, in response to the requirements of Illinois’ Revised Uniform Unclaimed Property Act, from January 1, 2016 to the present. I am a parent in the district. I received an email about the positive case at Washington last week, and I wanted some clarification on the district‘s rules. First, why do only unvaccinated staff who’ve been in contact with the case have to quarantine, when we now know that even those who are vaccinated can still spread the virus? This does not seem to be based on current science. This seems to be more of a reward/punishment system. Why did the district adopt this procedure? Additionally, I have questions about the Shield program, which appears to be a reward/punishment system for families who choose to opt in or not. Perhaps I misread, but it looks to me that children who opt in get to go back to school faster than those who do not opt in? Shouldn’t any child who tests negative be allowed back within the same period of time regardless of opting into this program? This does not appear to based in science either. Why did the district adopt the SHIELD program? I appreciate any clarification.

At that meeting, on behalf of the Catholic school leaders, I asked District 64 to consider broadening its IDEA-funded services to meet the diverse learning needs of the parentally-placed private school students with learning differences.
