Board Member Vacancy 2023

District 64 Board of Education member Dr. Nicole Woitowich recently resigned, and the Board will immediately begin the process of filling the vacancy according to Board Policy 2:70. Dr. Woitowich was elected to the Board in April 2021. 

The Board of Education will select an interim replacement for Dr. Woitowich to serve from the time of appointment until the seating of new Board members following the April 2025 election. 

The Board has announced instructions and applicant qualifications for those community members who may be interested in applying for the interim appointment.

Applicant Qualifications & Instructions for Interim Appointment

A candidate must meet the legal qualifications set forth in Board Policy 2:40

The interim appointment will be made following the state law as found in Board Policy 2:70

  • Tuesday, February 21st at 4:00 pm - Deadline for applications to be turned in
 
  • Monday, February 27th at 6:00 pm - Board will interview prospective candidates during an open special Board meeting. This meeting will be open to the public, and the candidates will receive the questions beforehand. To help ensure that the process is as fair as possible, the order of interviews will be randomly selected, and the Board asks that while candidates are waiting to be interviewed, they stay off of their phones and social media.
 
  • Thursday, March 16th at 7:00 pm - The interim replacement Board member will be sworn in at the regularly scheduled Board meeting.

The term of office will be from the date of appointment to the special reorganizational meeting when the new Board is seated following the April 2025 municipal election.

Applicants should show familiarity with the Board’s policies regarding general duties and responsibilities of the Board and a Board member, including fiduciary responsibilities, conflict of interest, ethics and gift ban, to name a few.   • A letter of interest summarizing why you would like to serve as an interim member of the District 64 Board of Education; the skills you would bring to the Board; and previous relevant community or non-profit experiences
