This special meeting was an orientation for new Board members by the District's legal counsel on legal responsibilities and best practice recommendations. Highlights included a review of: the Board member oath of office and its 14 promises; the Illinois Open Meetings Act and its practical implementations; a review of the Illinois Freedom of Information Act and its implications for Board communications; and a review of prohibited conduct for members.
