Board explores full-day kindergarten options

The District 64 Board of Education on June 3 began weighing options for potentially adding full-day kindergarten in the District. Currently District schools offer part-time kindergarten (as required by the State).

While the issue has been talked about for several years, District 64 convened a Kindergarten Exploration Committee earlier this year. More than 1,300 parents responded to a survey in February and District administrators researched various options from facility additions to funding.

The Board will continue discussing full-day kindergarten at its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, June 24 at Emerson Middle School.
