Student and Staff Recognition

  • We were treated to a performance by the Emerson Middle School Chamber Orchestra. Led by Erica Faulhaber, Curriculum Specialist for Instrumental Music, the group played some holiday favorites to start off the meeting in a festive fashion.
  • We also recognized our musicians who represented District 64 at the 2022 Illinois Music Educators Association Festival, which is sponsored by the Illinois Music Educators Association (ILMEA).
    • More than 1,000 of the finest band and orchestra students from more than 50 junior high schools in the North Suburban area auditioned for a position in these all-star groups. Students spent months preparing their virtual auditions for submission.
    • District 64 students selected to participate in the festival include:
      • Emerson – Eliza Chasak, violin; Isabella Roszko, violin; Paxton Miller, trombone; Jasmyn Knipping, jazz tenor saxophone; Will Seiter, jazz trumpet.
      • Lincoln – Anderson Burkum, euphonium; Thomas Dickinson, trombone; Rose Hassman, viola; Reed Maurer, bassoon and jazz saxophone; Hannah Seol, viola; Luke Steffens, clarinet.
  • With this being our inaugural board meeting in the new space, we wanted to take a minute and offer our sincerest thank you to Studio GC, Nicholas & Associates, and Midwest Mechanical for making our full-day kindergarten additions and renovating the Jefferson Early Childhood Center and District Office.

Spotlight on Franklin Elementary School

  • Franklin Principal Kristin Williams gave an in-depth presentation on what makes Franklin special and the close-knit community the school has built.
  • Mrs. Williams highlighted how students were making a difference in other’s lives, how the staff continues to make it a great environment, and how the board has helped Franklin improve.
  • She also shared a video, “Making Our Mark,” which had interviews with students on what makes Franklin memorable.  You can watch that video here
