District 64 Personnel News Brief

Park Ridge-Niles School District 64 news

(8/19/2022, PARK RIDGE, Illinois) - Park Ridge-Niles School District 64 employee, Luis Rubio-Ortega, was arrested by the Park Ridge Police Department on Thursday and was charged with two felony counts of unlawful recording inside a bathroom. As a result of the arrest, Rubio-Ortega has been placed on administrative leave.

No students were recorded. However, two staff members were recorded in a staff bathroom and those individuals have been contacted by law enforcement.

This crime happened at the end of last school year at Washington Elementary School when a staff member found a cell phone in a staff bathroom at the school, and the phone was recording. The PRPD was immediately notified and an investigation commenced. The District has been fully cooperating with law enforcement throughout the investigation.

District 64 conducts fingerprint-based criminal background checks and cross-references state and national sexual and violent offender registries as a part of our pre-employment process.
