At the December 18 School Board meeting, we celebrated two D64 Shining Stars from the Jefferson Early Childhood Center. These honorees exemplify our District's mission to foster opportunities for discovery, engagement, and growth for all students. We accomplish this by nurturing interdependence, appreciation of differences, and care for self and others.
Thank you to Jefferson Speech and Language Pathologist Francesca Ramirez and student JR Douglas for being Shining Stars in our community!
Jefferson Principal Michele Barkley highlighted Ramirez’s incredible support and compassion for our District’s youngest learners. “Your work with our three, four, and five-year-olds has made a meaningful and lasting impact on their communication skills, their confidence, and overall success in the classroom,” said Barkley. Ramirez was praised for her innovative approach and collaborative spirit, helping both students and staff succeed. Students themselves echoed this sentiment, with one sharing simply, "I don't know, I just love her.”
The spotlight then turned to JR, a student recognized for his kindness and leadership. “You are a star student because you are kind, you’re caring, and you are a wonderful friend,” said Barkley. JR is known as an amazing storyteller and communicator who makes sure no one feels left out. Whether asking thoughtful questions or pretending to be the teacher in the room, JR brings joy to those around him. Barkley wrapped up by saying, “You're brave, you're confident, and we're so proud of the way you learn to lead and the way that you care for others.”
Congratulations to our Jefferson Shining Stars!
