At the School Board meeting on December 18, we celebrated two outstanding individuals from Franklin Elementary School, recognized as D64 Shining Stars. These honorees exemplify our district's mission to create opportunities for discovery, engagement, and growth for all students. We achieve this by promoting interdependence, appreciating differences, and fostering care for oneself and others.
Thank you to Head Custodian John Branch and 5th-grade student Dinah Cavello for being exceptional examples of leadership and heart within the Franklin community!
Franklin Principal Dr. Kristin Williams celebrated John Branch, noting that while Franklin has many stars, Branch’s quiet, selfless dedication is truly special. “I have never, ever known someone who goes above and beyond more than him,” Dr. Williams said. Branch’s impact is felt by everyone, from staff who appreciate his meticulous preparation to students who request to work with him as a reward for good behavior. Dr. Williams added that Branch makes sure everyone in the building feels seen, heard, and valued. “I’m so grateful I’ve had the last six years to work with him, and I know he’s going to continue to serve our community in a wonderful way.”
Also honored was Dinah, a student whose ability to connect with others makes her an exemplary leader at Franklin. "Dinah has the ability to connect with other students, that make them feel very special," Dr. Williams explained. Dinah frequently goes out of her way to welcome new students, helping them feel part of the community and ensuring they have a friend. "She has the kindest heart, and she is always available to help others. I'm so very proud of her, and I know that she's going to continue to do wonderful things.”
A big shoutout to our amazing shining stars at Franklin! We're so proud of you!
