Feb 5 - Evening Events Canceled and Buildings Closing 6 PM

MESSAGE FROM SUPERINTENDENT HEINZ

To all District 64 Families and Staff:

District 64 and our Maine Township Superintendents have been carefully monitoring the winter storm expected in our area later today. The National Weather Service has reconfirmed an Ice Storm Warning beginning at 6:00 p.m. and continuing overnight. The forecast calls for significant icing due to freezing rain, which will make driving conditions dangerous.

Therefore, District 64 is canceling all evening activities and we will close our buildings after 6:00 p.m. today to ensure the safety of students, families, staff and community members. Any activities concluding before 6 p.m. will continue as planned.

Unfortunately, this will result in the cancellation for this evening of the first-ever District 64 Orchestral Jazz Concert at Emerson Middle School and the Superintendent Search community forum at Roosevelt School. All other activities scheduled at our buildings after 6:00 p.m. this evening also are canceled and the buildings will be closed to all groups.

Thank you for your understanding as we continue to navigate a truly relentless winter.

Stay safe.
Dr. Laurie Heinz, Superintendent
