D64 announces assistant principal changes

Field Elementary School will not only have a new principal for the upcoming school year, but an experienced District 64 assistant principal to work alongside her.

District 64 administrators on Thursday named Franklin Assistant Principal Christa Donnelly as the new Assistant Principal at Field School. She will fill the vacancy created this week when Field’s current Assistant Principal Amanda Spychalski announced she would not be returning for the 2020-21 school year.

Donnelly will work alongside new Field School Principal Courtney Goodman in the upcoming school year. The District 64 School Board on Monday appointed Goodman as principal effective July 1. Currently principal at John Middleton Elementary School in Skokie, Goodman will replace outgoing Field Principal Jason Bednar.

Superintendent Eric Olson said Donnelly’s experience in the district will benefit Goodman as she begins her leadership at Field. Donnelly was an asset last year in helping Dr. MaryBeth Whitney DeLaMar in her first year as principal at Franklin.

“Ms. Donnelly's knowledge of special education and leadership experience in District 64 will be an asset to the Field community,” Olson said.

Goodman spent the last three years as principal at John Middleton Elementary School in Skokie. Throughout her administrative positions and her career, she has been actively involved in a number of building and district initiatives from facilitating a Parents Advisory Council to co-planning a Curriculum Revision Cycle.

“She’s the kind of leader we feel will be a great fit for the Field School community,” Olson said.

District 64 administrators will immediately begin an interview process for the new assistant principal at Franklin.
