D64 School Board approves hiring at Franklin School

Park Ridge-Niles School District 64 has named a new assistant principal for Franklin Elementary School.

The District 64 Board of Education voted Monday night to hire Kristin Williams as the new assistant principal at Franklin School. The appointment was confirmed Monday during the regular monthly Board meeting. Mrs. William’s hire will be effective August 4.

She will replace current Franklin Assistant Principal Christa Donnelly who is moving to fill a vacancy at Field Elementary School, also in District 64.

“She’s a great fit for the Franklin School community,” said Superintendent Eric Olson. “Kristin brings a unique understanding of elementary education. She has a wide range of experience both in the classroom and in district leadership positions.”

Mrs. Williams has been at Arlington Heights School District 25 since 2009. She worked during the 2019-20 school year as the District Assessment Coordinator for all District 25 schools.

She originally began her career in 2009 as a 4th grade teacher at Ivy Hill Elementary School in Arlington Heights School District 25. Over the next four years at Ivy Hill Elementary School, Mrs. Williams had the opportunity to work in grades 2nd, 3rd, and 5th. In 2014, she was promoted to the position of District Math Curriculum Coordinator for all K-8 schools in the district where she designed and led the middle school math department different and common assessment training for all District 25 teachers.

Mrs. Williams earned a Master in Arts in School Leadership from Concordia University, Chicago in 2009; a Master of Education in Instructional Design and Technology from Post University in Waterbury, CT in 2012 and her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Loyola University in Chicago in 2013.

She was chosen from a pool of 75 applicants. Two candidates were recommended to meet with a committee consisting of central office administrators, as well as members of the Franklin staff.
