Children's Book Author Makes Stop At Carpenter Elementary School

Carpenter Elementary School had a special guest speaker stop by on Friday. "Travel Guide For Monsters," by Lori Degman, has been a favorite at Carpenter not only for the adventure it takes readers on or the creative illustrations but also because Mrs. Degman is the mother of Carpenter Assistant Principal Mr. Degman.

Mrs. Degman talked to different grades throughout the day, sharing some keys to her success. Passion, practice, and persistence helped Mrs. Degman overcome dozens of rejections to have six of her books published!

She also treated students to a live reading of some of her books and answered questions about her career and what it's like to be an author.

What a treat to send us into the weekend. Thank you! Here are a few more photos from the event.
