Playing with a purpose - Music in the Parks 2023

On Saturday, May 6, the Emerson Concert Band, Emerson Symphonic Band, Lincoln Symphonic Band, Emerson/Lincoln Concert Orchestra, Emerson/Lincoln Philharmonic Orchestra, Show Choir, and the Emerson/Lincoln Honors Chorus performed and competed at the Music in the Parks Festival at Viking Middle School.

Following the performances, they spent the day at Great America, where the groups met for an exciting awards ceremony. We are thrilled to share with you our results:

  • Emerson/Lincoln Honors Chorus received an “Excellent” rating and a 1st place trophy in Middle School Treble Choir AA Division
  • Emerson soloist Andriana M (8th grade) received the “Soloist of the Day” award
  • Emerson Violinist Isabella R (6th grade) received the “Accompanist of the Day” award 
  • Emerson Show Choir received an “Excellent” rating and a 1st place trophy in Middle School Show Choir AA Division
  • Lincoln Show Choir received an “Excellent” rating and a 1st place trophy in Middle School Show Choir A Division
  • Emerson Concert Band received an “Excellent” rating and a 1st place trophy in the Middle School Concert Band 2 AA Division.
  • Emerson Symphonic Band received a “Superior” rating in the Middle School Concert Band 1 AA Division.
  • Lincoln Symphonic Band received a “Superior” rating and a 2nd place trophy in Middle School Concert Band 1 A Division.
  • Emerson/Lincoln Concert Orchestra received a 1st place trophy in the Middle School Orchestra 2 AA Division. 
  • Emerson/Lincoln Philharmonic Orchestra received an “Excellent” rating and a 1st place trophy in the Middle School Orchestra 1AA Division.

“All the groups had outstanding performances and the students should be applauded for their hard work,” said Erica Faulhaber, District 64 Curriculum Specialist for Instrumental Music. “We are SO proud!”
