Celebrating our D64 Special Olympic Athletes

Team D64 had an amazing time at the Special Olympics at Prospect High School last weekend! Whether they were sprinting down the track or tossing the ball, our athletes truly embraced the spirit of the oath: “Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”

A big shoutout to our fantastic athletes, Reed, Henry, Noah, Harv, Maskim, Kimi, Harper, Maya, Julia, Ben, Cece, Yapheth, Augie, Liam, and Joey, who represented Team D64 with so much enthusiasm and joy on the track and field!

“One of the most remarkable things is just to see our students out there doing their things and having everybody cheer for them,” said Emerson Special Education Teacher Karen Hess at the May 15 School Board meeting. “One of the things that makes this possible is that at District 64, unlike most of the other organizations that show up, we have volunteers who staff the practices and the events.” A big thank you to all of the volunteers for their help!
