Dear D64 Families and Community Members,
It’s hard to believe we are almost through July and approaching the weeks leading up to another school year. We hope you’re enjoying this family time, and this letter finds you well. Our construction projects are in great shape, and we wanted to give you a brief update on the progress.
Carpenter
- The playgrounds are up and being finalized. We ask for your help to talk to your students about not trying to jump/climb the construction fence and get onto the equipment. It’s not safe yet, and we don’t want equipment damaged. This should be complete before school begins.
Emerson
- All renovations are in the final stages. The new HVAC system has been installed, and the construction company is finishing the interior routing. All other systems are being finalized and will be ready for the start of school.
- The exterior fence along Oakton has begun installation.
Field
- The interior renovation is in the final stages. All of the electrical, plumbing, and HVAC are roughed in, and the walls are being painted with the flooring prepped. This will be ready by August 8th.
- The 2nd story addition is going well and on pace to be finished by winter break 2025. The steel trusses will be delivered this week and next, with some street closures immediately next to the school.
Franklin
- The fencing on the school’s south side is being finalized and will be installed soon, before the start of school.
- The design for the addition, playgrounds, and renovation continues, and we’re hoping to bid out the work this fall.
Jefferson
- We are still waiting for permits from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD) to start construction on the playgrounds. We were hoping to have it by now, but at this point, it’s likely the playgrounds will be completed in late summer/early fall.
Lincoln
- The 1st and 3rd floor renovation is in the final stages. HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and flooring are all set to finish up in the coming weeks and be ready before school begins.
- We are still waiting for MWRD approval to begin the cafeteria addition. Once we have that, we can break ground.
Roosevelt
- The new chiller is installed and roughed into the HVAC system.
- Construction on the new playground has begun and is expected to be completed before the start of school. We ask for your help to talk to your students about not trying to jump/climb the construction fence and get onto the equipment. It’s not safe yet, and we don’t want equipment damaged.
