News from August 14 Regular Board of Education Meeting

D64 admin sit down to give a presentation on the budget

The District 64 Board of Education held a regular meeting on Thursday, August 14. You can watch or listen to a replay of the meeting here on our YouTube Page

Superintendent Update

Dr. Ben Collins gave an update on the construction progress on all of the schools and that they would be ready for the first day of school. We’re excited to show off all of the progress and work that was completed throughout the District. Dr. Collins also gave a shoutout to our maintenance and facilities staff who have been working around the clock to get the buildings ready for students. “They are working very hard. By my calculations, by the time students start, some of our maintenance team will have worked for about 15 days in a row. That’s really significant. If you see one of our maintenance team members, a thank you goes a long way for them for all of the great work that they do inside of the schools and outside of the schools.”

Board Committee Reports

The policy committee has met twice since the last meeting. Board Member Rachel Georgakis gave an update on the policy committee. To watch this portion of the meeting, click here

The 1st reading of Policy 4:110 Transportation was pulled from the Consent Agenda, and the 2nd reading was waived, and the policy was approved.
