Dear Roosevelt Families,
We are thrilled to announce that Meghan Duffy has been selected as the next Principal of Roosevelt Elementary School, pending Board approval on Thursday. She will start on July 1, 2026.
During the interview process, Duffy showcased that she would be a great leader to serve the Roosevelt community into the future.
“I can’t wait to meet the talented educators, families, and Terrific Tigers of the Roosevelt community! I’m eager to lead this dynamic school that deeply values the growth and well-being of every child and adult. I am ready to enter Roosevelt with passion and purpose,” said Duffy.
For the past 10 years, Duffy has been the principal at Audubon School in Chicago, during which she has led the school to the top 1% of academic performance in Illinois. Her strategic leadership created a four-year transition to research-based reading practices, resulting in the 99th percentile in state growth. She was recognized by the Chicago Public Education Fund as a “Growth Award Finalist” for her exceptional work leading academic progress. She also spearheaded work in student and staff culture, creating a positive learning and working environment through curricular and organizational improvements.
Prior to working at Audubon, Duffy was an Assistant Principal at two CPS schools, a district-wide instructional coaching administrator, and began her career teaching 4th and 2nd grade, and was recognized as the “New Teacher of the Year” in her first year. She has degrees from Boston College, National Louis, and Harvard, with executive education at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management.
Duffy will take over for Dr. Kevin Dwyer as he completes his 17th year at Roosevelt. Afterward, Dwyer will transition to the Director of Human Resources and Safety at the District Office for one year before retiring.
Sincerely,
Dr. Ben Collins
Superintendent
