We are very proud to announce that our very own Lincoln Symphonic Band received a 1 rating, the highest ranking obtainable, at the annual Northern Illinois Music Conference (Nimcon). The pieces performed were “Rough Riders”, by Karl King, “Me”, by Randall Standridge, and “La Madre De Los Gatos”, by Brian Beck directed by Mrs. Ilona Hutter and student teacher Mr. Ethan Soltys. Students were assessed not only for their playing ability, but also for their professionalism as a group.
We are extremely proud of our Lions. Their hard work and effort truly showed during their performance. We are excited to see continued success in all of our student performers at future performances.
Nimcon is an educational regional band, orchestra, and choir festival. It features school groups from around the Northern Illinois and Chicagoland region. Ensembles perform in front of a panel of distinguished teachers acting as judges. Each group receives a rating and attends a clinic where they work with distinguished band directors as a group to improve their performing skills. Great job, Lincoln Symphonic Band!
