We proudly celebrate Emerson Middle School’s 8th Graders, who took a significant step last night at Maine East High School during their promotion ceremony. The Class of 2026 walked across the stage poised for the next chapter in their stories, ready to embrace new challenges and opportunities.
Emerson’s administration shared their immense pride in the outgoing class. “We are extremely proud of our 8th graders and wish nothing but the best for them as they leave Emerson to tackle high school and the next steps of their lives,” said Emerson Principal Tessa Shulman. “We are always sad to see our 8th graders leave, but we know that this promotion will bring amazing things for each and every one of you after Emerson.”
Emerson 8th-grader Catherine Karabalieva welcomed the crowd and noted all the hard work and commitment that went into the last three years for these 8th graders. “This day ends our adolescent lives and brings a new step to becoming young adults,” said Catherine.
Later, Riyaad Aflal addressed his peers, reflecting on the resilience of the class. “Middle school was never just about grades, assignments, or tests. It was about growing up,” said Riyaad. “We will never forget how these years felt. We will remember the friendships, the laughter, the lessons, the struggles we overcame, and the moment we realized we were stronger than we once believed.”
A special highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Judith L. Snow Ethical Leadership Award to Paxton Miroslaw and Luciya Janardhan for their commitment to living their core values.
Congratulations to the Class of 2026! As you move on to high school, remember: once an Eagle, always an Eagle.
