D64 School Board tours new room at Field

The District 64 Board of Education held a regular meeting on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Field Elementary School. You can watch or listen to a replay of the February 19 regular board meeting. 

D64 Shining Stars

We celebrated Shining Stars from Field Elementary School this month. It was great to learn more about how Field 5th grader Charlie Meachem and Head Custodian John Imber make the D64 community a better place by truly representing the District 64 mission. Read more about Meachem and Imber. 

Playground Updates

Approval of Burke Playground Agreement for Field and Franklin Elementary Schools

  • Motion Approved

Margaret Chaidez, with Burke and Play Illinois, outlined the progress of our inclusive playground installations. 

  • Projects at Carpenter, Roosevelt, and Washington were completed successfully. Used equipment from Carpenter North is being refurbished and will be installed in Bangladesh through the "Kids Around the World" organization.
  • Work is planned to begin this March at Franklin Elementary. Projects at Jefferson and Field are slated for June and July.

New Principals Announced 

Approval of Franklin Elementary School Principal Bob Guercio & Approval of Roosevelt Elementary School Principal Meghan Duffy. We are so excited for them to join our team starting July 1, 2026.

Cook County Tax Delays

Approve Resolution Calling On The Cook County Treasurer And Other Cook County Officials Responsible For The Issuance Of Property Tax Bills To Resolve Systemic Issues

  • Motion Approved

“All the school districts in Cook County are just trying to stand together and continuously put pressure on the County Board to try to rectify and fix the situation, considering we have the next piece of tax installments coming up,” said Superintendent Dr. Ben Collins. 

Transportation Update

Approve Contract for Regular Education Transportation Services

  • Motion Approved

Following a public bid process, the Board approved a three-year contract for regular education transportation services with Lakeview/Sunrise, which will start for the 2026-27 school year and run through 2028-29. 


Superintendent’s Update

Dr. Collins provided additional updates on District achievements and staff success! 

  • IDEAcon Presenters: Several staff members were recognized for sharing their learning at IDEAcon, a major educational technology conference. Presenters included Karen Corsello, Victoria Wilson and Anna Bauer, and Victoria Wilson and Colleen Biere.
